BIOGRAPHY

Bartholomeu Dias was born in 1450 and died in 1500. He sailed to the southern tip of Africa.The cause of his exploration is that his king,Jhon Joao 2nd told him to explore the lands of the Christan African king who was supposavly located on the southern tip of Africa. The reason why Bartholomeu's king wanted him to go to the Christan African king was because he wanted them to make peace(become allies). When Bartholomeu was exploring/sailing to find this Christain king, he was very persice and direct on his directions of sailing the boat. But then this violent storm blew him off cource and then he discovered this new place called Mossel bay(which was on the southern tip of Africa). He soon later named it Cape of Good Hope. His legacy is that he was a hard working explorer that never gave up on what he was doing which brought great success to the portuguise.

My explorer Bartholomeu Dias belongs in the Explorer Hall of Fame. Bartholomeu was a great explorer. He was nice to all of the people around him and he listened to others before creating ideas with no ones approval or thought. He treated every one equily with alot of respect. Everyone on his ship loved to sail with him. that is why I think that he should be in the Explorer Hall of Fame.

REFLECTION

Exploration from the 15th and 16th centuries is similar to space exploration today. Explorers in the 15th and 16th centuries wanted to know "what is out there". They were curious about what it was like on the other side of the world. Just like we are wondering today "what it is like on other planets".
